Material: cast alloy / stainless steel
Color: copper
Manufacturer: Überbartools
Care instructions: Always clean swizzle stick by hand using non-abrasive cleaning supplies and detergents!
This version of Überbartools' Lux Swizzle Sticks sports a copper-style finish, but is made of cast alloy and stainless steel like the other sticks. The head piece is spherical while the mixing part is somewhat reminiscent of rotor blades.
With the reboot of this tradition-rich tool, Überbartools presents a contemporary successor. Swizzle Sticks have their origin in the 18th Century's West Indies where they got made from the branches of the tropical plant Quararibea turbinata and used for mixing particular cocktails. Those so-called Swizzles also played a role in the 20th Century's blooming Tiki culture. The use of cast alloy and stainless steel now makes the Überbartools Swizzle Sticks more durable than their wooden forefathers while the different available finishes allow you to match your selection with your existing assortment of bar tools.
The Caribbean archetype was mixed on a larger scale - the Lux Swizzle Sticks on the other hand are suited for mixing in appropriately sturdy drink or mixing glasses. Add the ingredients for your Swizzle into a glass with enough crushed ice and put the Swizzle Stick in. Then place the upper part of the stick between your palms and set it in motion by rubbing them together - in a similar fashion to scouts utilizing friction to start a fire in the woods. Besides cooling as well as aeriating and slightly diluting the drink, this will frost up most of the glass - just as impressive on the visual as on the technical side of things!
