Tiki motifs from the Hawaiian region found their way into Western pop culture in the mid-20th century. Originally, the Hawaiian Tiki figurines were made of wood or stone faces of gods and ancestors. However, the point was not so much to worship these statues as divine representatives, but rather to offer the pagan gods a sacred vessel into which they could enter during ceremonies and rituals. In bar culture, however, the Tiki genre is fortunately mainly limited to exotic-looking drinks, so the vessels with god figures found great commercial appeal in cocktail bars. Today, Tiki mugs and cocktails are essential parts of the bar culture and represent the fruity, exotic spectrum of drinks including many, rum-based cocktails.
With this Hi-Ball Tiki, Prime Bar has created a glass image of a crowned, wild Tiki god. A face can be seen on the front and back.
This one with 430ml volume does the same: a crowned tiki god with furious eyes and a big nose. But it is made of glass instead and so will not hide the sometimes colourful sensation of tiki cocktails.
Turn around the glass in your hand and you will find that not just two faces (front and back) are looking at you, but that the mirroring effect brings another tiki figure to live: like a Rorschach test! But maybe it is just your blurred tiki mind playing tricks on you.
