Even at first glance, the whisky tasting glass SAVU is easily identifiable as something truly unique. The first impression is something between a laboratory flask and an art piece – and the truth is actually not that far off: The SAVU tasting glass is a completely new type of glass and promises unprecedented whisky enjoyment!

The inventor of the SAVU glass is Jari Tuominens, a Finnish aromatologist and inventor with a doctorate in chemistry. Together with his team, he has dedicated himself to the task of making the aromas of whiskies more perceptible. To achieve this, the overwhelming alcohol vapors are to be brought under control, because otherwise the aromas would remain hidden underneath them.

To achieve this goal, the SAVU whisky glass sports two special design features:
1) The top half of the glass features small ledges which are carefully positioned and sized to match the volumetric levels. These ledges imitate the distillation process and thus ensure perfectly dosed alcohol evaporation.
2) The characteristic hourglass shape with waist also slows down the evaporation of alcohol and limits the amount of alcohol vapors that escape into the nose from the lower part of the glass. Optionally, the manufacturer recommends sealing the drink off with a small piece of ice in the glass!

How to use the SAVU tasting glass and get the most out of the experiece: Pour the whisky into the glass over the ledges and give it some time to unfold its aromas while you enjoy the visual impression! Especially when using the ice, SAVU recommends enjoying the melting of the ice in the glass and the slow dilution as parts of the process – and that is also what makes this glass truly special: Drinking whisky becomes a holistic experience involving all senses and fully focused on enjoyment.
